The Compassion Project
Jamie Sorro
Counsellor - ACCESS Program
As a second generation Canadian, Jaymie offers respect to the Indigenous people and the land on which she works and lives. Mental wellness is ever more important as we navigate these challenging and unknowing times. Jaymie believes it is important to reflect on how our various cultural identities, relationships and social circumstances intersect and influence our wellbeing, to bring insight to areas which require extra nurturing and care.
Jaymie's background draws from work in crisis intervention, suicide prevention and supporting survivors of sexual violence from trauma-informed and empowerment lenses. Her role as a counsellor is to support you in reaching your goals by drawing from different therapeutic modalities that will best suit you and your needs.
Jaymie is a counsellor currently in the process of completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and will be doing her internship with the Compassion Project under the supervision of Pauline O'Brien, Ed.D., CCC-S, CCS-AC, RP.
Jaymie is based in Winnipeg and will be offering online psychotherapy to clients within the ACCESS to psychotherapy program, which provides those the opportunity to access affordable counselling services. She can work with individuals residing in both Manitoba and Ontario.
Transitioning into therapy from front line work has been an enriching experience and if you are currently in need of someone to walk alongside you and hold space for you as you navigate your own therapeutic journey, Jaymie would love to join you in helping you reach your goals.
